Maryland Child Victims Act

On April 12, 2023, Governor Wes Moore signed senate bill 686, Maryland child victims act, (CVA) into law. October 1, 2023, the new law will take effect. 

This most important law clears the way for individuals who were sexually assaulted as minors, to pursue claims for compensation against the institutions involved regardless of the amount of time that has passed. The statute of limitations has been eliminated.

Eligible organizations include but are not limited to;

  • Universities
  • Youth organizations and camps
  • Hospitals
  • Detention centers
  • Government institutions
  • Daycare facilities
